Childrens Electric Guitars – Choosing the Right Guitar

Children’s electric guitars tend to be scaled down versions of the full size models played by adults.  Normally these guitars will be either half or three quarters the size and not only will children find them easy to play and also people with small hands.

Although children’s electric guitars are smaller in size they still have the same strings, notes and chords on them as the full sized ones.  So when it comes time for your child to progress on to the full sized adult electric guitars available they won’t have a problem.

Because of their size a child will have no problems holding these instruments and won’t find that they need to stretch their fingers far in order to play the chords.  Certainly if you are going to buy your child an instrument this Christmas to get them involved in music you cannot go far wrong with buying them one of the many children’s electric guitars now available.

You will be amazed when you start looking at electric guitars for a child just how many different makes and styles are available.  Today even the best quality guitars created for adults now produce a range for children including the likes of Gibson, Fender and Dean.  Certainly two of the best electric guitars to consider for young children wanting to learn this instrument are as follows:-

1. [nmslink:Fender Squier Mini Strat, Fender Squier Mini Strat]– This is a 22.75 inch scale model of the Fender Squier Affinity Mini Strat and has a double cutaway body, a fingerboard made from rosewood and a maple neck.  It also has 20 frets, 5 way switching along with 3 single coil pickups, 6 saddle hard tail bridge and single ply white pick guard.  Plus there are both master volume and tone controls on this particular children’s electric guitar.  This particular guitar is one suitable for children with small hands and on average you can expect to spend around $100.  However, for this price you still are getting a good quality beginner’s electric guitar.

2.  [nmslink:ibanez mikro,Ibanez CRGM21 GIO Mikro] – This one tends to cost slightly more than the first one we mention in this article at about $130.  It comes in wide array of colors including Apple Candy Red, Black Night, Jewel Blue and White.  This is a 22.2 inch scale model of other guitars made by Ibanez and has a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard as the Fender Squier does.  But instead of 20 frets this has 24 the body is made from alder and again has a hard tail bridge but hum bucking pickups along with a dual power sound.  Not only is this electric guitar suitable for children just starting to play this instrument.  It is also suitable for people who are more accomplished at playing the electric guitar but want a smaller sized one.

Along with the two children’s electric guitars mentioned above there are plenty of others worth considering.  A quick search online and you will be amazed at how many are now available and all are reasonably affordable.
